KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 18, 2025
In a display of sheer endurance and journalistic dedication, Nepali television presenter Gaurab Poudel has etched his name in history by successfully completing a staggering 100-hour marathon television talk show.
With this monumental feat, Poudel has unofficially broken the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Marathon Television Talk Show (Individual),” surpassing the previous benchmarks set by international broadcasters and fellow Nepali journalist Rabi Lamichhane (who held the record at 62 hours back in 2013).
The Grueling Journey
The marathon broadcast, titled “Sambriddha Nepal: The Journey (Prosperous Nepal),” concluded this morning amidst thunderous applause at a studio in Kathmandu. Poudel remained on air for over four days and nights, taking only the permissible 5-minute break every hour as per Guinness guidelines.
Over the course of 100 hours, Poudel interviewed over 300 guests, ranging from top political leaders and policymakers to celebrities, social activists, and inspiring common citizens. The show focused on themes of national development, tourism, and cultural heritage.
“For the Nation’s Pride”Visibly exhausted but high on spirits, Poudel addressed the media moments after the clock hit the 100-hour mark. “This was not just a personal challenge; it was an effort to put Nepal’s name on the global map once again,” he said. “The physical pain was immense, but the energy from the guests and the support from the viewers kept me going.
“Official VerificationEvidence of the broadcast, including video logs and witness statements, will now be sent to the Guinness World Records headquarters in London for official verification. Once certified, Poudel will bring the prestigious title back to Nepal, further highlighting the resilience and capability of Nepali media professionals.
