KATHMANDU, JANUARY 22, 2026 – In a significant move to dominate the broadband market and increase digital accessibility, state-owned Nepal Telecom (NT) has announced a major reduction in its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) internet tariffs. Under the newly launched “New Year Super Offer 2082,” the telecom giant is now providing high-speed 100 Mbps internet for just Rs. 600 per month, making it one of the most affordable high-bandwidth plans in the country’s history.
The new pricing structure aims to challenge private Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who have long dominated the urban fiber market. According to Nepal Telecom Spokesperson Rabindra Manandhar, this aggressive price cut is part of the government’s “Digital Nepal Framework” to ensure that high-quality internet is no longer a luxury but a basic utility available to every household. “We have upgraded our backbone infrastructure and optimized our international bandwidth costs, allowing us to pass these massive savings directly to our subscribers,” Manandhar stated during the announcement at the central office in Bhadrakali.
Key Highlights of the New Plan:
- Affordability: The 100 Mbps standalone internet package is priced at Rs. 600 (exclusive of taxes) when opted for a yearly subscription.
- Triple Play Service: For customers looking for a complete home solution, the “NT Fiber Combo Pack” including 100 Mbps internet, IPTV (NTTV), and a free telephone connection with unlimited on-net calling is now priced at approximately Rs. 1,150 per month.
- Free Installation: To attract new users, NT is offering free installation and 100 meters of optical fiber cable for all new yearly subscriptions booked before the end of Magh (mid-February).
- Added Value: Subscribers of the yearly fiber packs will also receive a daily mobile data bonus of up to 800 MB on their Namaste SIM cards, ensuring connectivity even when they are away from home.
This price reduction comes at a time when private ISPs like WorldLink, DishHome, and Vianet have been competing fiercely with speed upgrades. By offering 100 Mbps at nearly half the market average price, Nepal Telecom is expected to see a massive surge in its FTTH subscriber base, which has already crossed the 300,000 mark. Market analysts believe this “Price War” will eventually force other providers to lower their rates, benefiting millions of Nepali internet users who have been demanding more stable and cheaper connectivity.
The move is also seen as a strategic step to utilize Nepal’s surplus electricity and growing local content consumption. With more people working from home and students relying on digital learning, the availability of 100 Mbps for Rs. 600 is predicted to significantly boost the country’s internet penetration rate, which currently stands at over 95% (including mobile data). Existing NT Fiber users can upgrade to the new high-speed plans through the Nepal Telecom App or by visiting their nearest NT office.
